Reading and Signing with the No Name Writing Group - This One Has No Name
The No Name Writing Group will host a reading and signing to celebrate their new anthology of collected works, This One Has No Name ($15.00 SputenDuyvil), at The Hickory Stick Bookshop on Sunday, December 4th at 3pm. Members of the group include: Alice Barstow, Joe Connolly, Jane Darby, Fee de Merell, Nancy Glover, Karen LaFleur, Dimitry Rimsky, Emelie Samuelson, Kristen Skedgell, Merima Trako, Davyne Verstandig, Robley Whitson, and Cherra Wyllie. Refreshments will be served.
This One Has No Name includes some of the best poetry and prose from the No-Name Writers Group, an ever-changing cast of authors that has been meeting monthly in various locations in Washington, Connecticut for over thirty years.
This collection’s topics and emotions echo the idea that we matter, that somehow our dreams and talents are not alone hidden under our real lives.
Stories range from the fear of saying yes, a world of broken things, a man named Lonesome, the joy of dancing with spina bifida, a woman choosing between a life of isolated independence and adventure and the daughter of a stone mother, a woman writer begging, a mother and wife grappling with the gluttony and deceit of everyday life… and many more. This is the group’s first collection since Songs of the Marrow Bone in 2010.
This event is free and open to the public. If you are unable to attend this event, you may reserve a signed copy of This One Has No Name by calling The Hickory Stick Bookshop at (860) 868 0525.
